HOSA will be taking a trip down to the Johns Hopkins Children’s House on Saturday September 29th, 2007. Here is a quick blurb about the Children’s House and what they do:
“The Children’s House at Johns Hopkins is part of the hospital housing program of the Believe In Tomorrow National Children’s Foundation. This facility offers affordable housing for families of pediatric patients who visit the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. It is our purpose to keep families together in the midst of medical crisis, to reduce stress and promote self help and mutual support. Young people who receive medical treatment away from home need the emotional support of their families, and those families need a “home-away-from-home,” where they can restore their own physical and emotional energies.” (taken from the Children’s House Website)
This will be a great time to get out and help others, while having fun with some of your JHU buddies. Our “photos” page features some pictures from last years trip.
As mentioned previously the trip is scheduled to take place on September 29th, 2007. We are scheduled to go there each saturday, so if you can’t go one week, you can always go next week. Be sure to let one of your officers know a few days in advance if you plan on going.
For more information about the Children’s House and what they do please check out their website.

We would like to announce that HOSA will be showing a movie on Wednesday September 19th, 2007. The movie is entitled “Something the Lord Made.”
Here is a little excerpt of what the movie is about: Something the Lord Made “tells the emotional true story of two men who defied the rules of their time to launch a medical revolution, set against the backdrop of the Jim Crow south. Working in 1940s Baltimore on an unprecedented technique for performing heart surgery on “blue babies”, Dr. Alfred Blalock and lab technician Vivien Thomas form an impressive team. As Blalock and Thomas invent a new field of medicine, saving thousands of lives in the process, social pressures threaten to undermine their collaboration and tear them apart.”
This movie is actually related to JHU interestingly enough, so to learn more come out to the event. Here are the details.
Location: Remsen 01
Date: September 19th, 2007
Time: 6:00pm - 8:30pm
Hope to see you there

Hello everyone. Thanks so much for stopping by at the HOSA table at the SAC fair today! As you should be aware of by now our next general body meeting is this Tuesday, September 11, 2007. We will be meeting in the AMR I MPR (Alumni Memorial I MultiPurpose Room). For those of you unfamiliar with the MPR, it is located in the building directly behind the security desk at AMR I. Once inside the building, the MPR itself it located directly to the right. If you have any trouble finding the MPR, the security guard at the entrance to AMR I will be able to direct you there.
We welcome everyone to join, and we strongly encourage all current officers as well as past members to be in attendance. We will be holding elections during this meetings as there are a number of executive/officer positions available. We are more than happy to accept input from new members as well (so come with questions).
At the meeting new members (as well as old) will get a chance to learn more about HOSA and its mission, as well as some of the events we already have planned for the month of September and beyond. We look forward to another great year, and we hope to see you all there.
